Erlenbach bei Dahn
Tiny village with a huge castle

Erlenbach bei Dahn is an individual municipality with around 350 inhabitants. It is located in the county of Südwestpfalz in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is an accredited tourist resort. Centred in the rock formations of the Dahner Felsenland, Erlenbach is situated at the foot of castle Berwartstein and was mentioned for the first time in records around the year AD 760.

This lovely small town, in which the infamous predatory knight Hans Trapp was once on the rampage, offers next to hospitality a great amount of leisure activities. Being immediately nearby to France, a cycling or hiking tour in Erlenbach easily becomes a borderless pleasure. In summer you can jump into the chilling water of the nearby lake which is romantically surrounded by woods.

Places of interest in Erlenbach are for example castle Berwartstein in 280m height, from which you have an admirable view. The former castle entrance which has been hit into the rock, is as much as amazing as the candle-light walk through subterranean passage of the castle.
