Schweigen-Rechtenbach
Vis-à-vis "La France"

The individual municipality of Schweigen-Rechtenbach is an approved resort with 1,500 inhabitants and is situated in the administrative district of Southern Wine Road in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Indicated by the German Wine Gate built in 1936, the German Wine Route starts in here in Schweigen-Rechtenbach. Geographically it is directly bordering the French Alsatian small town of Wissembourg (Weissenburg).

Starting point of the “German Wine Route”

Being the village farthest south in the Palatinate, Schweigen-Rechtenbach is picturesquely located between many vineyards. Schweigen-Rechtenbach exudes a pleasant sense of charm and warmth in a successful combination of taste and pleasure. This very romantic village gives you the opportunity to discover authentic and distinctive tastes of the regional kitchen and wines.

“Wine Teaching Trail” and “Borderland Train”

The surroundings can be explored at cycling or hiking tours. The one kilometre long, first German Wine teaching trail has been established in 1969 at the „Schweigener Sonnenberg“ and offers an insight of the history of winegrowing. A very exceptional attraction is the small borderland train which commutes between Wissembourg and Schweigen-Rechtenbach presenting a marvellous view starting from the Rhine valley until the Black Forest.
