Cuxhaven
Cuxhaven
Tidal flats with sandy beaches, dunes, a colourful harbour and much more...

Cuxhaven lies in the farthest northwest corner of Lower Saxony. Germans like the environs of the town for holidays because of the great variety being offered. Fishing and tourism are the most important industry sectors.

You can explore Cuxhaven, the North Sea medicinal resort, by Cux liners. The „hip on hop off“ tour takes you through an interesting scenery for about 100 minutes and 40 kilometres. These red double-story busses offer their trips through the year and stop at all important places of interest. But you can discover Cuxhaven also from sea by taking a harbour boat tour. On the mainland you can jump on the streetcar “Jan Cux” which takes you along the coast. Or you can join one of the many guided cycling tours. You even might do all of them!

Since 2009 the tidal flats as a paradise for birds and animals is listed as UNESCO world nature heritage. Very valuable and interesting information about this unique habitat can be gathered in the national park centre, at mud-flat excursions or thematically activities.

Whether family, health or relaxation, in Cuxhaven everyone will enjoy the perfect holiday, for example Thalasso and spa. Ocean water, salt, algae and sludge – that these elements of the ocean are improving health is known for centuries. Seaside resorts offer the respective treatments.

Museum-fans will be delighted by a variety of exhibitions as for instance in the Museum of Fishing, in Fort Kugelbake, in the Town Museum, Ringelnatz Museum or Museum of Wracks.
