North Sea
Pep up your body and your mind!

The North Sea has been a favoured holiday region both for Germans and foreign guests for decades now.

Fresh salty air, the sound of the waves, the dyke, mudflats and endless beaches with coloured whicker beach chairs  - that’s all you need for recreation and recovering your health.

Seven islands between the rivers of Ems, Weser and Elbe promise additional excitement. To their south attract heath, meadows, woodlands and marshland. Marvellous markets and cutter harbours where you can buy fresh fish and crabs offer diversion.

In the national park of Lower Saxony mudflats lie the East Frisians islands, among them Borkum and Wangerooge: Dunes with wide beaches and salty meadows that lead to the mudflats.

The regional kitchen offers fish and crabs in many variations. "Snirtjebraten" made of fresh pork, "updrögt beans", a soup called "Plünnensopp" or "Speckenfetten" are some of the typical dishes. But everything is topped by a substantial dessert called "Sinbontjesopp". It is made of raisins, Kluntjes (rock candy), brandy and rum. You have to taste this!
