Potsdam
More than Sanssoucis

As one of UNESCO’s world cultural heritage, Sanssoucis draws many visitors - however, Potsdam has to offer much more! Each year on the annual UNESCO day, the city focuses on one of the UNESCO listed places of interests in Potsdam.

Since 2006, the Russian colony, Pfingstberg, Schwanenallee, Krongut Bornstedt with church and cemetery, Klein Glienicke, the Imperial Railway Station and “Potsdam Cultural Landscape” have been in the focus of the organisation. Guided tours, exhibitions, talks and lots more show guests the scope of Potsdam’s human heritage. Preparations of the UNESCO day take place in cooperation with many partners of science, culture and education sectors.

"Life in a world heritage" has to offer a lot of interesting aspects. In 2014 the annual campaign of the German National Tourist Office is also dedicated to UNESCO world heritage.

In the capital of Brandenburg you can moreover do very nice excursions, for example to:

Belvedere on Pfingstberg, which has a very nice view
Belvedere on Klausberg, a construction built according to an antique model
The Picture Gallery
The Botanical Garden
Alte Wache which controlled traders at the beginning of the 18th century

Furthermore, Potsdam is headquarters of the old-established film studio Babelsberg which is not only rich in tradition but disposes of modern equipment and realizes an increasing number of international film projects.

Potsdam has 7 twin towns:

Bonn, Lucerne (Switzerland), Jyväskylä (Finland), Bobigny (France) Opole (Poland) Perugia (Italy) and Sioux of case (USA)
