Heilbronn

Heilbronn is surrounded by vineyards which yield wonderful wines due to the mild climate, thus making Heilbronn the „capital of red wine in Württemberg“. You can sample its wonderful taste in numerous vine producing farms, in vine restaurants and the typical local pubs named „Besenwirtschaften“ which open only during the season.

In the autumn, when the grapes are collected, Heilbronn invites you to join the wine festival near the old town hall which was build during the Renaissance.

You might also like to try the six kilometer „panoramic way“ leading through the vineyards and all around the city with its 120,000 inhabitants. The most important monumental building in Heilbronn is the protestant Church St. Kilian. It was reconstructed after it had been totally destroyed in WW 2. It is famous for its handmade gothic altar, but also the modern stained glass windows designed by Charles Crodel are worth noticing.

Adults as well as children are fascinated by the „Experimenta“, a center for interactive applied science which leads its visitors to enjoy a trip through scientific discoveries.
