The North Sea fascinates locals and vacationers alike. Its wind, salty air and vastness give a feeling of freedom and adventure. It is a wonderful area to relax.

The coast starting at List on Sylt up to river Elbe‘s mouth is a popular holiday destination. The dyke floodplain with gentle sandy dunes and a view of mud flats let everybody’s heart beat faster. The Halligen, small islands with houses built on residential hills, were built in the Middle Ages and are unique in the world. The islands in the North Sea developed during the Nähice age are not less impressive.

The North Sea coast is perfect to be explored by bicycle. Moreover, the area is wonderful for swimming and surfing or just relaxing on the beach as well as for short or long walks. The short distance to Denmark and river Elbe as well as its cultural diversity make North Friesland an attractive holiday region for annually 1.5 million guests.

TIP: The Schleswig- Holstein Music Festival is known all over Europe. Better not miss this festival, or another another among the numerous festivals staged every year in North Friesland.
