Automobile Anniversaries

The Porsche Museum and the MOTORWORLD Region Stuttgart are exemplary for the Automobile Region of Stuttgart and draw millions of visitors annually to the region. In the year 2019 they both celebrate their 10th anniversary.

The Porsche Museum celebrates

The Porsche Museum is celebrating a milestone birthday: At the end of January 2009 the museum on Porscheplatz – where the famous sports cars with the Stuttgart horse emblem on their hoods have been produced since 1950 – first opened its doors to the public. Since then the museum has welcomed more than 4.2 million visitors from all corners of the globe. In honour of the jubilee, numerous events will be staged throughout the year. The climax of the festivities will be the first weekend in February. On 2nd and 3rd February the museum will attract visitors with free admission and various special guided tours, such as a look behind the scenes, or tours of the production sites.

As befitting the anniversary, there's also a new multimedia guide. In addition to the previous audio texts, there's now extensive picture and video material for every exhibit, allowing visitors to delve even further into the company history of this sports car manufacturer. The media guide is available in eight languages.

On an exhibition area of 5,600 square metres, the Porsche Museum presents more than 80 vehicles and 200 smaller items. Highlights include a reconstruction of the Type 64, the very first Porsche. Its design language, the Porsche DNA, so to speak, is still to be found today in every model produced at the Zuffenhausen plant. This year the museum is also devoting two temporary exhibitions to special Porsche models: "50 Years 917"can be seen from 14th May to 15th September 2019, and "50 Years 914" from 2nd June to 7th July.

10 Years of the MOTORWORLD Region Stuttgart

Design hotel, event location and an exhibition of mobile classics – in the historic listed building at the former Böblingen/Sindelfingen airfield, the MOTORWORLD Region Stuttgart incorporates a host of automotive passions on an area of 50,000 m². Restoration workshops and sales rooms are augmented by exclusive catering, allowing visitors to enjoy the sophisticated combination of a classic car museum, an exhibition of sports cars, workshops and good food, with no admission charge.

At both of the V8 hotels overnight guests have the choice between standard rooms and individually designed theme rooms geared to the classic car ambience of the Motorworld. They can spend the night in the "Scheunenfund" (Barn Find), for example, "Made in Germany", or between the wraparounds in the "Carwash" room.

The MOTORWORLD Region Stuttgart celebrates its jubilee on Sunday, 8th September 2019 with an automobile festival. Visitors can look forward to a colourful supporting programme with live acts and food trucks.
