„Knowledge builds bridges – education unites people“

That’s the mission of the University of Technology in Dresden. Founded in 1828 TUD trains students in the fields of engineering and natural sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as medicine. Interdisciplinary research and international cooperation are as important to the university as are contacts to enterprise and cultural institutions.

TUD sees itself as active part of society and wishes to work in the subject of knowledge and research transfer far beyond the region. Together with the university’s medical centre TUD takes care of health issues.

TUD offers a variety of courses to 37,000 students (2013). More than 520 professors in 14 faculties support Excellency fields. TUD is the only college in the new federal states that already in 2006 was awarded with the Excellency cluster and had success as a postgraduate's school.

Therefore the University of Technology in Dresden plays an important role in top research and support of the young research generation.
