Wonderful aquariums

Zella-Mehlis is a union of the towns of Zella St. Blasii and Mehlis in the administrative district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in the south slope of the Thuringian woods. The highest mountain in Zella-Mehlis is the Sommerbachskopf with a height of 941 metres.

The town is an accredited recreation resort with 60 kilometres of hiking trails. In winter times cross-country skiing can be done in the surroundings.

60 aquariums, sharks and koi fishes can be seen at the Thuringian Sea Aquarium which offers a unique experience in the central Germany. The crocodile house is built in walk-in style with bridges, so that you can see the reptiles from close range. The restaurant within the aquarium is open daily 10-18:00 o'clock.
