Sankt Peter Ording is a popular seaside health resort, sulphur spring and municipality in the district of Northern Friesland in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. The rather small town has just 4,000 inhabitants, but is Schleswig-Holstein‘s seaside health resort with the most overnight stays.

The town gained quite some fame when it was used as scenery for the television sitcom „Against the Wind“. Situated at the farthest west point of the Eiderstedt peninsula, Saint Peter Ording is characterized by an unique dune surrounding, salt meadows as well as a sandy beach that is approximately 12 kilometres long and up to two kilometres wide. It has optimal conditions for some of the world‘s top fun sports. Numerous competitions as for example the kitesurfing world championship, the „Against the Wind“ triathlon, beach volleyball masters and lots of music events are staged in Saint Peter Ording. Due to the unbelievable width of the beach it is possible to organize international sport activities without disturbing other guests and inhabitants of Saint Peter Ording.

Saint Peter Ording has some very cosy districts with houses covered with reeds and a beach that seems to rise up to the horizon. In the town centre the landmark of Saint Peter Ording is located, houses built on stilts next to the Böhler lighthouse. Furthermore Saint Peter Ording has the Nordseebernstein museum that houses a grind place, galleries and art craft workshops, the Robbarium, a dune thermal bath and around 100 kilometres of bicycle and hiking trails.
