Nordstrand
Nordstrand
A peninsula in the tidal flats

Nordstrand is a peninsula in the administrative district of Northern Friesland. The peninsula lies directly at Husum in the tidal flats.

Nordstrand offers its visitors mostly rest and relaxation. Although being situated in the middle of tidal flats the peninsula is connected to the mainland and thus easily accessible. Around the peninsula stretches an evergreen dyke on which a bicycle trail is available. But you do not have to bring a bike with you. You can rent bicycles there.

The dyke of the North Sea coast offers the possibility to take a walk on flat ground and in fresh clean air. Also children have fun here. From the dyke you have a fantastic view over the sea and mud-flats. Low tide and flood alternate, presenting a steadily changing scenery. Moreover, which bicycle tour gives you the chance to do a picnic directly by the sea?

People loving the sea-side can proceed to the Harbour of Strucklahnungshörn. There are regular ferries going to Pellworm. Touristic excursions are offered to the North Frisian Islands and to the Halligen. Speedboats go to Amrum, Sylt or to Hooge.

At low tide, rain or storm you can visit the swimming-pool Nordstrand. Here you can swim in all weather, sweat in a sauna or get a tan in the solarium.
