Dresden’s Frauenkirche rises like a big bell on Neumarkt square. Its doors are set on all four directions as if it wants to invited people from everywhere. The Protestant church, in where pastel shades dominate the interior, is open all day. Baroque jewellery, an imposing inner room and bright dome reflect both security and respect.

Impressive for everybody is to discover objects in the otherwise reconstructed interior that have been left in their original state of destruction. Attend an organ prayer service or just discover the architecture of this church at a guided tour.

Frauenkirche became after World War II one of the most important landmarks of Dresden. During the last days of war, in 1945, the church was destroyed by heavily bombings. Long stood the ruin in the middle of the town. It reminded for years of the war and as long lasted the discussion about its reconstruction. Finally the decision was made in favour of reconstruction which was internationally financed.
