Falkenstein
Long mining tradition

In the provincial town of Falkenstein mining history and tradition are still present in the town‘s coat of arms, symbolized by a crossed mining tool and hammer.

In the Museum of Local History in Falkenstein many interesting facts about mining, the history of the town as well as Falkenstein’s woodcarvings are exhibited. Special highlight is the big collection of "moss man" figures. These are bearded and completely in moss dressed legendary characters of the Vogtland. These small men make an excursion to the museum Falkenstein worthwhile.

Founded in 1911, it is among the oldest museums in Saxony. Another place worth seeing is the "astronomical art clock" which is unique in its kind in Saxony.
