Green vault
Green vault
One of the richest treasuries in Europe

Mirrored walls, gold plated shelves, perfectly displayed marvellous pieces of art in gold, silver, enamel, ivory, mother-of-pearl, ostrich eggs and coconuts, all decorated with precious stones doubtlessly make visitors’ hearts beat faster.

It is one of the richest treasuries in Europe that is exhibited in the Dresden castle since a couple of years. Merely unbelievable is the richness in art to be seen both in the Green Vault and in the historical Green Vault that had originally been built by August the Strong. All pieces of art displayed are unique. Since its reopening, more than three million visitors came to admire the splendored treasures.  A costly reconstruction had been necessary for rebuilding the vault that had been destroyed during World War 2.

TIP: Be aware that the number of visitors allowed to the historical Green Vault is limited. But you can order tickets in advance. However, tickets to the new Green Vault can be bought at the entrance. Both exhibitions are opened daily from 10 – 18 o'clock and closed on Tuesdays.
