Bingen
Bingen
Small and beautiful

The major county town of Bingen is home to around 24,000 inhabitants and situated on the Rhine in the administrative district of Mainz-Bingen in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It functions as middle centre. Bingen is the gate of UNESCO‘s world heritage „Upper Middle Rhine Valley“.

The town has an impressive history that goes back to days earlier than Roman times. The Old Town is thus reflecting a mixture of historical and modern architecture with many cafés and restaurants.

Legendary Tower

One of the most famous landmarks of the middle Rhine area are the castle Klopp and the Binger Mäuseturm, literally called the mice tower. It was built during the 14th century. Though the castle is nowadays used by the city’s administration, the fortress storm can be still visited and offers an outstanding view of the mountain ranges of the Rhinegau, the middle Rhine Valley as well as the Binger woods.

Attractive Events

Bingen features events of unique character like a wine night on mount Rochusberg titled „Night of Seduction“ or the international jazz festival „Bingen swings“.
