The Bonn region offers much interesting things to all ages. Embedded in the picturesque natural landscape of the Rhine-Sieg-circle Bonn is gate to the romantic Rhine since it is located immediately at the foot of tje famous Siebengebirge.

Path of Democracy at the Museum’s Mile

With over 2000 years of history Bonn can offer a lot. Between the city centres of Bonn and Godesberg lies both the arts and exhibition hall of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as the art museum of Bonn. Both form together as an impressive architecture ensemble the core of the Museum’s Mile. A guided tour called "Path of Democracy" takes enthusiasts through the former government district. Bonn was from 1949 until 1991 capital of Germany. In a permanent exhibition that was newly arranged in 2011, the House of History exhibits the history of both German states, from 1945 unto the fall of the Berlin wall. Also good historical authentic insights in political Bonn give the villa Hammerschmidt, once official residence of the Federal President, the Palais Schaumburg and the chancellor's bungalow. The natural history museum Alexander Koenig, the German museum of Bonn as well as the old city hall are in short distance.

Living Beethoven

Who visits Bonn will so to say “live” Ludwig van Beethoven. The famous composer was born in 1770 in an annexe building in the city centre, that a long time ago has become pilgrim's site for tourists from all over the world. Today the birthplace is a museum, which of course houses the worldwide biggest Beethoven collection. Annually in autumn the public magnet, the Beethoven Festival takes place. However, Beethoven can be experienced also all around the year. The Beethoven's dinner, the Beethoven's house and the city tour MP3 on Beethoven's tracks is nowadays standard programme.

Rhine romanticism in the surroundings

The city of Bonn lures her guests also with other well known cultural programmes. A varied museum scenery displays special exhibitions, „the Rhine in Flames“, the Bonn Christmas fair and the Pützchens market are all worth visiting. The surrounding Rhein-Sieges-Kreis and the Ahrtal have as well manifold activities to offer. Here is where Rhine romanticism can be found. Boat tours and the dragon's rock Drachenfels, activity holidays or wellness vacations, thematic wine tours and events like „the Rhine in Flames“ are all part of it. For those keen on racing the Nürburgring arrangements with included transfer, VIP lounge and many other activities should be quite irresistible.
