Accredited health resort at the biggest lake of Germany

Waren is a provincial town in the administrative district of Mecklenburg lakes and lies at Germany’s biggest lake, Lake Müritz. The town is a medicinal bath and accredited health resort.

The historical city centre has two market squares. Characterized by affectionately restored half-timbered houses and romantic corners and alleys, historical churches and courtyards the city centre lures visitors to stay.

The tower of Marien's church in the eastern Old Town was built in the 14th century. Also dating back to this century is church Georgenkirche, whose altar displays a crucifixion group. In bad weather the Tschu-Tschu-train takes visitors through the city to all important places of interest. The train goes even to places you would, due to their distance, not have gone to.

Different shipping companies offer journeys on Lake Müritz. You can enjoy hours on historical steamboats as well as on modern boats.

In Waren’s harbour numerous cafés and bars create a maritime atmosphere and visitors can spend a perfect time after a sightseeing tour through town.

Events

Accordingly, Müritz most important festival is the Müritz Sail, which is a maritime festival with a strolling mile, canoe competition, water-ski shows, a firework and dancing.
