Göhren
Göhren
Far out at the sea side

Göhren lies on peninsula Mönchgut on the island of Rügen. Located at the farthest east point of the island, Cape Nordpferd, Göhren is surrounded by a biosphere reserve and separates North Beach from South Beach.

Göhren is the perfect place to have a restful vacation in healthy surroundings. Green coastal woods are both a wonderful area for both hikers and cyclists. Seafront and Sea Bridge are both worth seeing with the newly designed Amber Promenade offering playgrounds, cafés and restaurants in maritime atmosphere. On Kurplatz square the town’s events and concerts are staged. Here is also the entrance to the new sea bridge.

In the Kneipp-garden you can improve your health whilst having a view of the blue water of the Baltic Sea. Boards in the garden explain the correct use and application. Here you can refill your energy.

On a hill near the church is a tomb dating back to Bronze Age. The hill tomb of Speckbusch offers a unique view of Mönchgut.

The main attraction of Göhren are its beaches. North Beach with fine, white sand is particularly favoured by families with children. The water at this beach gets deeper very slowly, and thus suits children well. During summer experienced lifeguards of the DLRG offer even more security. Sanitary furnishings and various restaurants are available at the beach. Stores along the beach sell souvenirs and small presents for loved ones who had to stay at home.

South Beach offers the typical unique nature all Baltic beaches call their own. With some luck you might find a piece of the gold of oceans, amber. This marvellous, natural surrounding fascinates with romantic hours with beloved ones.

In the evenings variety shows, theatre performances, the police orchestra that invites for a dance, show groups and traditional maritime music bands offer a wide programme you can choose from.
