Binz
The biggest seaside resort on Rügen

Binz is a small town situated on the island Rügen. It is famous for its wide beach and the surroundings belonging to the “Nature Heritage Centre Rügen”.

Binz, the biggest seaside resort on the island of Rügen, attracts many visitors with its typical resort architecture stemming from the end of the 19th century. Many of the old mansions adorning the promenade have been renovated during the last years. Visitors should not miss the Jagdschloß Granitz (Hunting Palace Granitz), built in 1837 using bricks which were covered with plastering. Above the palace a temple sits on top of a hill. The high tower of the palace can be seen from afar.

The rooms of the palace, fitted out with historical furniture, allow a time trip back into long forgotten times. Bu visitors will be offered modern programs with contemporary art exhibitions and concerts too. Pairs desiring to get married are offered special, romantic programs as well.

The Pier (Seebrücke) was re-opened in 1994 and now offers the opportunity for a nice stroll. A longer stroll would include the Spa Park (Kurpark Binz) and the promenade leading along lake “Schmachter See”, and also the “Park der Sinne” (Sensual Park). Main Street and the square Wendeplatz were renovated in 2007 and offer nice shopping opportunities.

Binz´s beach is 5 kilometers long and leads to a natural beach. Swimming is possible at both beaches. Visitors longing for sporting activities can fish, surf, sail and also use kayaks. The annual Beach Soccer Tournament is the sporting highlight of the year.
