Warnemünde
Sea Resort and Cruise Ship Harbour

Warnemünde is a district in Rostock. The Baltic resort owes its name to its location at river Warnow.

Since 1897 the 37-metre-high lighthouse rises above town. During summer months visitors can enjoy the view of town at the lighthouse‘s view platform. Still today the lighthouse is used as sea sign, even by big cruise liners which land in the Baltic harbour. From time to time big liners of AIDA Cruises can be admired in Warnemünde. Visitors can start from here to a harbour boat tour.

The exclusive promenade „Alter Strom“ and modern seafront are perfect for strolling. The old town centre with restored fishing houses is especially worth seeing. At „Alter Strom“ you’ll find the fish market which is best visited early in the morning when fishermen and traders can be seen in action. Fresh fish and smoked fish are sold here.

Warnemünd‘s church was initiated in 1871 and is situated on Kirchen square. Inside is the in 1475 manufactured carved altar and a statue of Christophorus also dating back to the 15th century.

At the eastern end of the seafront is located the "Teepott“, which literally means tea pot. It is the town’s landmark. After costly renovations, guests can enjoy the kitchen of one of the restaurants. The building itself is listed.

The beach of Warnemünde is of fine, white sand. The unguarded beach is above all favoured by fans of nudism. The water quality was awarded a „blue flag“. For guests lockers and changing rooms are available free of charge.
