Weilburg
Weilburg
In 918 the first German king died in Weilburg.

This charming town at river Lahn has a rich history and thus offers a wonderful trip into the past of Germany. Konrad I, Germany’s first king (911 – 918) lived and died in this town. For centuries it was residence to noble lineage of Nassau, from which the today's Grand Duke Line of Luxembourg derives.

Nowadays, the former ducal residence is an approved aerial health resort. Baroque castle grounds are situated on edge of the Old Town which rises at the shores of river Lahn. Picturesque alleys with pretty shops and cafés give the Old Town a lovely touch. Around 13,000 people live in Weilburg. The land gate and a connecting stone bridge are the two ways leading into the city centre and stand for cosmopolitanism and philanthropy of this Hessian provincial town.
