Bebenhausen
A former abbey in a lovely village

Bebenhausen with a former Cistercian monastery lies in the north of Tübingen in Schönbuch. The count palatines of Tübingen donated this monastery, into which moved the Cistercians in the year 1190. In the late 14th century the monastery was under rule of Württemberg and dissolved in 1534 after the Reformation had started. In 1807 the former abbot house was altered as hunting seat of the kings of Württemberg. The monastery facilities are idyllically located in the small village of Bebenhausen and an attraction for tourists from all over the world.
