Houses on stilts in Unteruhldingen - back to the Stone Age

Do you know how people lived during the Stone Age? What their food was? How they built houses and which dangerous animals they had  to protect themselves from? All this and even more you can find out at the „Houses on Stilts“ settlement in Unteruhldingen. Perfectly and  impressively rebuilt is here the life during the Stone Age, the age of hunters and collectors. Houses on stilts are, just as it has been during the Stone Age, constructed in the lake and make you dive deep into a different world. Guided tours and presentations are sorted according to different age groups, all taking you on a unique time trip.

In the museum are original archaeological findings exhibited. The two Stone Age houses called "Riedschachen" are reconstructions of a Neolithic moor village dated BC 4000. "Sipplingen" is a seaside settlement of the Neolithic Age, as it existed in BC 3500. The village "Unteruhldingen-tunnel meadows" of the Bronze Age was finished in 2002 as part of a European project and consists of five buildings with a palisade segment. 27 figures prehistorically equipped with daily used contemporary objects show life as it had been 3,000 years ago. Especially interesting are the cult houses with lots of god figures and a funeral carriage.
