Todtmoos
Todtmoos
Known fo its dog-sledge races

In midst of the Black Forest nature reserve lies in 700 metres height the climatic health resort of Todtmoos. Surrounded by wild gulches, romantic valleys and hill slopes, Todtmoos has 13 districts and is a perfect holiday paradise for everybody who is looking for recreation.

Mount Hochkopf (1263 metres) offers in good weather conditions an incredible view of the Alps. Hotels and inns, accommodated in wonderful Black Forest type houses, are open all around the year. Here you can relax by doing Nordic Walking, hiking, bicycling or simply by going for a walk.

European centre for sledge dog sport

In winter time, especially in January, Todtmoos is most exciting, because then the traditional sledge dog race takes place. No other European region is internationally so well known regarding sledge dog sport as Todtmoos and Bernau. In 2003 the sledge dog world championships were held in Todtmoos.

It is fascinating how persons and animals can perfectly harmonise. Special highlight for visitors is the open teams with over 10 dogs. Especially the start and finishing areas are favoured since they give the possibility of taking a very closely view.
