Restaurant

This Wine Restaurant with its “gemutlich” atmosphere is situated right at “Drosselgasse” and attracts with its sunny winter garden and its romantic “castle garden”. It offers regional dishes and the owners self-grown wines, mostly Riesling and Pinot Noir. Guests prefer the Riesling-Cheese-Soup and Duck à la Castle.
Solid coffeehouse tradition since 1859 – but still loved by many citizens of Wiesbaden. Loved so much that you most likely will have to wait some time to find a place to sit. In summer it´s lovely to sit outside in the street, but also both floors inside are very attractive with their historic furniture and the comfortable sofas. Cakes and tortes all are delicious; we are unable to decide which one to recommend.
On warm summer days, but also during the „Golden October“ when the leaves are turning yellow and red, there is nothing better but to take a stroll to the medieval watchtower „Flörsheimer Warte“ with ist little restaurant to enjoy the wonderful wine and delicious regional dishes and snacks amidst the lush green of the vineyards. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. People share their tables and like to make new acquaintances. No better place to get to know German people who are far from being as “cold” as they are said to be…
Hessian tapas? Do they really exist? They do, at least at the Frankfurter Hof in Nordenstadt near Wiesbaden, and they are very tasty too! Guests visiting the cider and sour milk cheese (Handkäse) restaurant first of all should order “Schnuudehäppche”, which are a funny translation of the French amuse gueule, but also some sort of Hessian tapas. They are as delicious as their name is funny. Having tried those, you are qualified to move on to the real stuff: Handkäse (hand cheese or harzer, a small, translucent cheese with a pungent aroma some people might have to get used to). Handkäse is made according to a family recipe as secret as the coca-cola formula, and with as much reason. The Frankfurter Hof is so much en vogue, sometimes you´ll have to book your table two weeks in advance.
Situated high above the Rhine river the „Rebenhaus“ requests a healthy stroll through the vineyards or a trip with a vehicle – but compesates for this with a splendid view of the Rhine river valley and the vineyards. Restore your strength with freshly made special regional dishes and wines from the vineyards you are looking at. The “Rebenhaus” specialises in venison dishes.
Feel like a historic member of the city council – but sample tastes which are fresh and new right here close to the Drosselgasse in Rüdesheim. The sun terrace of the restaurant offers mediterranean flair and the cuisine open 24/7 attracts with local dishes as well as Italian food – all you might wish, from German “Sauerbraten” to Italian Linguine with Scampi!
In this traditional „Straußwirtschaft“ (a restaurant which is only opened for a certain time in the year) you can leave all the daily hassle behind and enjoy the wonderful wine as well as the hearty and delicious regional food. Most likely you will make new friends too, because in the traditional pubs and restaurants in Wicker people are very relaxed and love to come to know you.
Would you like to try to eat the world´s biggest hamburger? Or rather a very big Schnitzel XXL? If so inclined, you found the place to go. In the “Waldgeist Eiserne Hand” near Wiesbaden Schnitzel dominate the menu, and all of them are huge! But don´t worry, even people with a Schnitzel phobia will not stay hungry. Hamburger, curry sausages, turkey fileto and also rumpsteaks can be ordered. If you are hungry enough to try the 1.2 kilogram rumpsteak you should take your time: even done medium it takes 55 minutes to fry it.
