Region for attractive excursions

Mediterranean flair with lots of bikes is one side of Münster. The other one is a city steeped in history and with mesmerizing palaces, gracious moated castles, monasteries and idyllic castle parks. All these are typical Münsterland features that invite to be explored on horseback or on a bicycle.

Historic town centres

However, Münsterland offers also exciting museum scenery. Nearly every small town in Münsterland exhibits exceptional things in small or large museums. Moreover, you can find changing exhibitions that make a second visit even more interesting. Most of all fascinate the towns’ narrow alleys, appealing marketplaces and amicable half-timbered houses. In historic town centres craftsmanship as well as culinary delights can be explored.

Pharmacy museum in Rheine

One of these towns is Rheine on the Ems. Next to many attractive excursions, this town that is located on the EmsRadWeg cycle path has also a natural zoo, the Bentlage monastery and the Gottesgabe salt works which are all quite captivating. Into the fascinating past of the town you are taken by the ‘Hof Pöpping’ complex of half-timbered houses as well as the pharmacy museum at the market square.
