Uckermark-Barnim
Wonderful trips for not only for citizens of Berlin

Not far from Berlin, in the northeast of Brandenburg, are two popular destinations, Barnim country and Uckermark. Mixed forests stretch along gentle hill scenery. Fertile scenery marked by the Ice Age is attractive for leisure activities with its many lakes. Numerous hiking and bicycle trails lead through a unique natural landscape.

Biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin is a heath in Uckermark and is under UNESCO protection. Nature reserve Barnim is another beauty of untouched nature and has over 700 kilometres of bicycle and more than 1,000 kilometres of hiking trails. Over 100 kilometres of water ways offer you another way to explore Barnim. The biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin contains more than 250 lakes and many boulders as well as erratic blocks, all of them remains of Scandinavia‘s ice age-glaciers.

Families and friends of water sports can indulge in seaside resorts, surfing, diving or water-skiing. The old field constructions and brick buildings, churches, monasteries and castles are site worth visiting. In addition, imposing industrial monuments testify to the interesting economic history of this region.
