Oder-Spree Lake District
Discover one of Germany‘s most lovely brook valleys

This region is one of the most romantic and various sceneries between Berlin and the Polish border. Located between Oderbruch and Spreewald you will find over 200 lakes as well as small and big river courses. In this nearly untouched nature even today live otters and kingfishers next to growing meadow orchids.

One of the nicest brook valleys in Germany lies on the edge of Nature Reserve Schlaubetal. Nature Reserve Märkische Schweiz attracts with another, not less attractive landscape and vast net of hiking trails. Woods, lakes, hills, basins and gulches are are remainders of the ice age.

Many towns, all quite different from each other, attract tourists in their own ways. Frankfurt at Oder for example is a town bordering Poland and thus gate to the east. It is a former Hanseatic town which has passed exciting times and thus much to tell.

The cathedral town of Fürstenwalde on the other hand is called „green pearl at river Spree“, because it fascinates with historical parks and buildings, remains of industrial culture dating back to the 19th century and many modern leisure facilities. The historical small towns of Beeskow, Strokow and Bad Saarow at Lake Scharmützel offer nature, culture and sport.

Bicycling, walking, hiking, swimming, sailing, horse riding, playing golf or tennis - nearly every sport is possible here. Boat tours and balloon rides are also available. Of course, many museums and concerts guarantee exciting times as well.

TIP: Museum Park Rüdersdorf offers much to explore on the subject of “cement in the time frame of two millenniums”. Historical lime distilleries and a stone quarry can be seen here. The limestone used for constructing Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate had been mined here! A tour in a SUV through this adventurous scenery of the stone quarry and Lime Lake is definitely unforgettable.
