Usedom – an excellent holiday island for families

Usedom: 14 accommodation facilities, one adventure partner and two communities on Germany’s second largest island welcome their guests with the well-known “Gustav”. The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern tourism association awarded this official seal after careful examinations by independent testers to those family-friendly tourist attractions. The bright fish with its crown signalizes that families are warmly welcomed by the decorated providers.

Are bucket, shovel and sun hat packed? Well then, family holiday on Usedom Island can start. Building sand-castles, collecting shells, exploring the beach – Germany’s largest playground is the perfect place not only for kids, but also for grown-ups. The whole family will have a good rest here – either while digging holes in fine white sand, swimming in the Baltic Sea or relaxing in beach chairs and enjoying the sun. Families may wade in the shallow waters of the Baltic, enjoying an ice cream, walk on one of the five piers high above the waves of the Baltic Sea and appreciate the incredible view over Germany’s largest playground.

The way back leads along the beach promenade. While the adults admire the imposing imperial villas built at the end of the 19th century, their children are more likely to slide or climb in the park playgrounds. Holiday on Usedom is both for parents and children a manifold adventure and an awesome experience.

Of course, Usedom offers even more for kids than just sandy beaches: lunch at children's restaurants, mini bathrobes or bicycles, island safaris, butterfly farm or submarine museum. Girls and boys can also fly their kites, visit the “Phänomenta”, a place for experiments, or take a walk inside the upside-down-house. And when it’s cold and frosty outside, skating artists set the scene on the unique artificial ice rink in Pomerania right beside the pier at Heringsdorf.
